Our Mission...

Disability Services, formerly the Office of Services for Persons with disabilities (OSPD), exists to ensure that students with disabilities are able to participate in the full range of college experiences. Our goal is to promote optimal development and achievement in all students while fostering independence and self-advocacy. In addition, we work to promote an environment that is free of physical and attitudinal barriers.

Temporary Disabilities:

Services are provided for students with temporary disabilities, such as broken bones and recent surgeries. Students requesting temporary services must register with the office and provide documentation specifically regarding their disability.

Services Provided...

The University of Texas-Pan American Disability Services provides services that enable students to participate fully in the learning experience and be evaluated on the basis of their abilities, not their impairments. These services include but are not limited to:

  • Extended testing time
  • Quiet, distraction free testing site
  • Reader/Scribe services
  • Note-taker services
  • Carbonless NCR paper
  • A liaison between students and faculty
  • Recorded text
  • Adjustable tables and lumbar support chairs
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Sign language interpreter services
  • Referrals to on or off campus resources

Strong emphasis is placed upon student responsibility and self-advocacy. Students needing accommodations in the class room, must complete a Semester Registration form at the end of each semester in order to have letters ready for your Professors for the next semester.
