Claire Butts is a music educator
with 25 years of public school experience as an elementary music
specialist and secondary orchestra director. She employs a
multi-disciplinary approach to teaching music that integrates music,
Spanish, American Sign Language and Japanese with core curricula.
Ranging in age from Pre-K through adult, Mrs. Butts’ private and/or
classroom students include blind, deaf, emotionally disturbed,
speech and language disordered, and gifted and talented students of
music. Her teaching techniques incorporate distance learning and
online learning strategies.
She has performed with Abilene
Philharmonic, Big Springs Symphony, Dover Symphony, Odessa Symphony,
San Angelo Symphony, Symphony of the Southwest, and Valley Symphony,
as well as with various Baroque and other chamber ensembles.
Interest in root music of America is showcased in performances with
the Texas Pioneers, whose recordings and concerts across the United
States receive acclaim from Western Music Association and National
Festival of the West. Additionally, residences coast to coast and
in Japan and Spain, and extensive international travels fostered a
diverse cultural background.
