Dr. Varlamova brings over 29 years of teaching experience to her position at UTPA. Dr. Varlamova specializes in choir, choral conducting, piano and voice. Her teaching duties at UTPA are focused in the areas of class piano and applied voice.
Her teaching experience includes instruction on piano, voice, and theory at Briarcliff Music School in Austin, Texas. Accompanist for the Austin Ballet, Austin Texas. Music instruction at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and music lessons at several other public schools in the Wichita, Kansas. Her international teaching experience includes fours years as an instructor of sight reading, theory, harmony, choir, choir conducting, and research at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and the Universidad Pedagogica Nacional, both in Bogota, Colombia. She also spent twelve years conducting research and instructing a the Moscow Institute of Artistic Education of Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in the USSR. Other accomplishments include being a four-time winner of the first prize in the Contest of Teachers' Choirs in Noginsk, Russia. Dr. Varlamova has also performed concerts in Bogota, Colombia, Wichita, Kansas, Austin, Texas, and Fort Worth, Texas.
