Kurt Martinez completed the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; he also holds degrees in guitar performance from Georgia State University and the University of Miami. Martinez has studied with some of the finest teachers in the world including, Javier Calderon, John Sutherland, Angelo Gilardino and Juan Mercadal; he has also performed in masterclasses for many world-renowned performers including Christopher Parkening and Manuel Barrueco. His studies have taken him to Europe where he attended the Corsi Internazionali di Chitarra in Muzzano, Italy and also studied flamenco guitar in Madrid and Jerez, Spain with guitarists Enrique Vargas and El Carbonero. Martinez maintains an active performing schedule and has appeared in recitals throughout the United States, Italy and Mexico. |
