School Psychology Program

Offering the Master of Education Degree in School Psychology
for the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learner

The purpose of the UTPA Master of Arts program in School Psychology is to prepare school psychologists for those schools and agencies which provide treatment and educational programs in a society which is linguistically, socioeconomically, and socioculturally pluralistic. The thrust of the 60 semester-hour program will be for students to acquire the knowledge and develop the abilities necessary to conduct applied and basic research, program evaluation, educational and psychological assessment, intervention with students with academic and behavioral/emotional, needs, and interdisciplinary consultation with teachers, administrators, parents, and community agencies. The curriculum in the school psychology program is in concordance with the scientist-practicioner model for educating school psychologists and is a joint program with the Departments of Educational Psychology and Psychology.
