Higher Education Leadership Program

The Higher Education Leadership Program (H.E.L.P.) is designed to mentor upper level students (junior and senior levels) within the field of Student Development and Student Affairs. Each student is assigned a mentor within their chosen field, and is expected to develop and research a project to be presented at the end of the year. Our goal is to allow students interested in student affairs the opportunity of becoming better acquainted with different student affairs professions.

Colleges and Universities organize their primary activities around the academic experience: the curriculum, the library, the classroom, and the laboratory. The work of student affairs should not compete with and cannot substitute for that academic experience. As a partner in the educational enterprise, student affairs enhance and support the academic mission. Each student that is a part of the Higher Education Leadership Program focuses on this partnership and their research projects are developed around this central idea.
