UT Civic & Service Participation Program-Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I keep track of my hours before recording them online?

    • You may use the Volunteer Record Log provided by CSC.  Either save a copy or print one out and keep track of your hours.  You can chose to input these hours online whenever it’s most convenient for you.

  • Our student organization would like to keep track of the service hours our members complete.  How do we create a group on the UTPA Volunteer website?

    • Email the following information to the CSC office

      • Student Organization name

      • Description/Type of organization (Fraternity, Departmental, Service, etc.) Up to 40 characters

      • At least one contact person

        • Contact person must have account set up through Volunteer website

        • If there are no members currently signed on to the Volunteer website, an account can be created.  Name of contact person and current email address will be required.  A default username and password will be created for you.  You may change these once you’ve accessed your account.

      • Your organization will be created as a team.  This means that any service hours completed as part of your organization will be noted and added to your groups total service hours, but your members will work individually towards their awards.

    • Once your organization’s group has been added, you will receive an email with your organization’s code.  You are free to share this with other members of your organization that have individual accounts on the Volunteer website.  Once your members input the group code in their individual accounts, they will become part of your group.  (If you have any trouble adding members, please contact our office.)

    • If your organization completes a service project, please make sure to inform the CSC by completing the Organization Service Log.  The CSC will then add your group activity and the hours each of your members completed to your group account.

  • Our organization has created a group on the Volunteer website.  What now?

    • Once your organization has volunteered at a service project you can add those hours online by completing the Organization Service Log Email or drop of the completed for to the CSC office in UC 320.

  • I am part of a UTPA student organization and would like to be added to the organization’s group.  How can I do this?

    • First you need to create your own account on the Volunteer website.  Please make sure to include your name and a current email address (we only use this to contact you when you’ve been awarded a Presidential Award).  Once you’ve completed your account, add your organization’s group code by clicking on the tab marked Groups.  Input the code and click on Join Group.  You should be able to see your group by scrolling down.  If your organization does not have a group code, please have a representative of your organization contact the CSC office to have that set up.

    • If you have any trouble adding your group, please contact our office.

  • I’m not part of an organization, but I’d still like to keep track of my service hours.  What can I do?
