The Salvation Army is the only emergency shelter in Hidalgo County providing 3 meals a day to shelter residents! We also provide assistance with food clothing, furniture, rent, mortgage and utility assistance to persons experiencing financial emergencies. Our disaster team also serves hot meals and provides other services during a disaster. |

Our area in deep South Texas is on the U.S./Mexico border, with an approximate population of 1.1 million with historically high poverty levels, and is home to 5 of the poorest counties in the nation |
