Apply to the Graduate School. Clear admission to the Graduate School is the first step in your MRT program
application process. You must be accepted by the Graduate School before enrolling for any graduate courses
at UTPA. However, acceptance into the UTPA Graduate School does not ensure acceptance into the MRT program.
Apply to the MRT program. Although you can take up to 6 hours of coursework before being officially
admitted into the program it is best if you finish your application before beginning to take classes.
Acceptance into the program is not guaranteed, even if you have already begun taking classes.
After you have satisfactorily completed the required courses contact the program coordinator and let her
know that you are ready for the MRT certification exam. She will inform the University Testing Services
office that you are eligible for the exam and you can then register and take the test.
*******Please note that all requirements for your MRT certification must be completed within one seven-year period.
Work more than seven years old will not meet requirements and can be reinstated only by special permission of the
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Graduate Programs and Research.
