Job Summary: |
Responsible for various operations of the Port Isabel Lighthouse including taking tickets from visitors; keeping a count of visitors; interpretation of the lighthouse and its history; providing assistance to patrons; keeping the lighthouse and surrounding areas clean at all times; performing some office duties; answering telephone; assisting in lighthouse projects; conducting tours; and related work as required. |

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Historic Preservation. |

Minimum Qualifications: |

|
Knowledge: |
Knowledge of lighthouses and lighthouse history |
||
|
Skills: |
Strong communication skills in writing and orally, especially in front of large groups |

Abilities: |

||
|
Education: |
High School Diploma or GED. A college degree is preferred. |
||
|
Experience: |
A minimum of one year of museum and/or historic interpretation experience. |
||
|
Hours: |
Must be able to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and during special events. |
||
|
Age: |
Must be 18 years of age or older. |
||
|
