Special Features

Varied clinical experiences - The program utilizes six different affiliates ranging in size from approximately 100 beds to 500 beds.  In addition, students have the opportunity to select a one week elective experience.  The purpose of this experience is to allow students to explore alternate career opportunities.  These are some of the sites in which previous students have participated in enrichment experiences:

• Bureau of Laboratories in Austin

• Research lab in a large medical center

• Physician office lab

• Medical laboratory supply company

• Reference lab

• MLT's (Medical laboratory technicians) with national certification have the opportunity to challenge the level one professional courses and may qualify for shortened clinical rotation experiences via an alternate admission pathway

• Part-time Opportunities - A limited number of students may be permitted to enter the clinical laboratory science program on a part-time basis.
