finished her first year.

Garza (2006) has been admitted as a Ph.D. candidate in
the Faculty of Medicine at LSU. He plans to conduct research in
parasitology.

Martin
Gonzalez (2005) graduate in respiratory therapy at UTMB
in August 2007. Now working at Rennainsance Doctors Hospital and
at Mission Regional Medical Center in Edinburg and Mission, respectively.
Deneb
de Luna (2005) is currently enrolled as a graduate student
of cell and molecular biology at the University of Rhode Island.
She is planning to take a career in medicine at American University
of Antigua.
Amanda Willford (2005) currently enrolled in
Veterinary Medicine at Texas A& M University in College Statio.
Plans to graduate in 2009 and will specialize in orthopedic surgery.

(Mission, TX). She plans to continue her education into Public
Health Administration.

of Medicine under a 1 year fellowship to work on cardiovascular
research. Upon completion of this present fellowship, she will
return to Baylor College of Medicine (Houston) to complete her
medical studies.

Garcia-Rojas (2000) will graduate in medicine in May 2005
at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Xavier has been
funded by a grant from the Howard Huges Medical Institute for
Research in Human Medical Genetics. He plans to specialize in
radiology.
Anthony M. Martínez (2000) graduated in medicine in 2004 at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He is currently in Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Houston Medical/Hermann Hospital.
Omar Daniel Rodríguez (2000) after several stints in medical studies and laboratory research, discovered his true passion for food and is getting ready to embark on further studies a the Culinary Institute of America in upstate New York starting Fall 2004.
Jesús Alejandro Rodríguez (2000) got involved in biomedical research at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio for one year before enrolling into the Medical School there in 2001. He is currently on track to receive his MD in 2005 and plans his residence in Family Medicine.

Alamo, Texas, since then. He is currently refuge manager for LRGVNWR.

Castillo (1997) received a BS in Biology in 1995 and a MS
in Biology in 1997 from UTPA. Worked as a General Biology and
Anatomy & Physiology instructor at South Texas Community College,
now South Texas College, for two years. Charles currently works
at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, Texas, teaching
General Biology (Botany & Zoology) and Anatomy & Physiology.

Gamel (1997). Master's degree from UTPA in 1997. PhD from
TAMU-Galveston's cooperative program. He teaches Biology and Nature
Photography at the Salt Lake Community College; Zoology and Ecology
at Weber State University; and Advanced Nature Photography courses
at the University of Utah's Continuing Education Program. He is
the Chair of the Education Committee for the North American Nature
Photography Association, and a monthly columnist for Photo Migrations
Magazine.

graduated as a doctor of medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine
in May, 2003. She will continue with her education and will specialize
in psychiatry.

(Bob) Gorena (1996) obtained
his MS from UTPA/Biology Department under the direction of Dr.
Tim Brush. Bobb obtained his Ph.D. in entomology from Texas A&M
University and is now an entomologist of the Texas Department
of Health, working on mosquito control. He also teaches part time

Rodriguez (1979) obtained a degree in physical therapy
at the University of Texas, Southwestern campus in Dallas. He
works as a physical therapist in Harlingen, Texas.
Antonio
de la Peña (1966),
former assistant professor who was associated with our department
since his graduation. Retired in December 2005. Enjoys golf.
