TExES Testing

Guidelines:

All certification programs require State mandated testing
  • Tests for certification are called TExES (Texas Examinations of Educator Standards)
  • Most programs require more than one test in order to obtain one certificate
Approval to take a TExES Representative (Practice) Test:
  • Contact Dr. Matthew Meyers (mmeyers@utpa.edu) for approval to take Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPRs), Bilingual Generalist and Generalist practice exams.
  • Departmental approval for all other content areas is required to take TExES Representative. (Contact the Department’s TExES Coordinator for TExES Representative Exam Application)
Approval to take a TExES Test:
  • (Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPRs), Generalist and Bilingual Generalist) Complete Certification Exam Pre-Registration form in the Office of Teacher Certification and Admission Services, EDCC 1.302 after taking the TExES Representative. Contact Dr. Matthew Meyers for questions regarding test eligibility.
  • (All content exams other than Generalist and Bilingual Generalist) Contact the department’s TExES Coordinator to obtain a TExES Eligibility Form. Submit both the Certification Exam Pre-Registration Form and the TExES Eligibility Form to the Office of Teacher Certification and Admission Services, EDCC 1.302, for test approval.
  • For retesting, call the Office of Teacher Certification & Admission Services at 381-5364 for test re-approval.
