Session Title and Description: Academic Reading Part 2 (2 hours): Academic Reading Part 2 explores various strategies to support students in the challenges of understanding and summarizing rigorous texts used in college courses. The strategies are layered to offer scaffolding for students to move from a literal account of the text to a higher-level summary that includes analysis and synthesis. Strategies for establishing a focus and purpose for reading by developing a reading prompt is discussed with the opportunity to write prompts for texts.
