Edinburg, TX, December 10, 2013 – Greek Scholars at The University of Texas Pan American were honored today as the newest initiates into the Eta Xi chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha, national Greek Academic Honor Society. The Eta Xi chapter inducted four members into the honor society. These four students qualified for membership based on achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above. The members took the oath to support and encourage academic excellence within the Greek community and serve as role models for other Fraternity and Sorority members. The new inductees are Christian Aquino, Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Divanna Salazar, Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Kendra Gusikoski, Delta Zeta Sorority, and Keyla Cadena, Delta Zeta Sorority

Gamma Sigma Alpha is the premier academic Greek honorary, initiating over 2000 students annually. UTPA has been recognized by being included on Gamma Sigma Alpha's Honor Roll for the past two semesters for having an overall Greek GPA that is higher than the overall GPA of undergraduate students.
