The UTPA women's basketball team is holding individual shooting and offensive/defensive skills camps in June as well as a team camp in August at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Monday-Thursday June 17-20 – Individual Shooting and Offensive/Defensive Skills CampGirls grades 3-129 a.m. to 4 p.m.$100 ($50 advance deposit required)Lunch included Monday and Wednesday, June 17 and 19 – Varsity High School Position Camp6-8 p.m.$25 Each camper receives:Daily lunchCamp t-shirtCamp certificatePerson written evaluationCertificates for contest winnersShooting evaluation The purpose of these camps is teaching the development of fundamental basketball skills using a fun and competitive environment. Players will learn one-on-one moves, team concepts, three- on-three and two man game concepts while also getting individual position workouts. Additionally, campers will learn the importance of proper shooting techniques and how to utilize the triple threat position. For the varsity only camp, position work will be stressed in the guard and post positions with an emphasis on offensive skill development. Campers should dress in shorts, camp t-shirts, and their most comfortable sneakers. Friday through Sunday, August 2-4 – Team CampGirls junior varsity and varsity teams$30 per playerEight players per teamFive-game guarantee Bracket play guarantees each team at least five games. Each game will be officiated by certified officials. There will be awards for first, second, and third place teams, as well as an All-Tournament Team. All players and teams are responsible for their own meal and lodging accommodations.
