Since the Fall of 2006, the State of Texas has enforced an Enrollment Cap policy for students attending public colleges and universities within the state. The enrollment cap or excess hours are calculated on the number of hours required for a student to complete their specific major requirements. If a student exceeds the enrollment cap limit, it does not mean they cannot enroll in courses; however they will be charged the designated excess hour fee.

*The excess hour fee will increase beginning Fall 2013.
Information sessions will be held to update UTPA students on Enrollment Cap policies.
