What is eduroam?

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.

eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.

You can go to www.eduroam.org and click on the “Where can I get eduroam?” link to check which locations across the world have eduroam. Locally, the UTPA and South Texas College campuses provide access to eduroam.

How do I access it?

When you are on campus, turn on your computer and make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. Check on the list of available networks and select eduroam. When prompted, enter your UTPA username followed by @utpa.edu (even if you are a student) and then enter your password. On Windows, press “Connect” on the prompt that follows. On a Mac, you may need to enter your computer password to install a certificate.
