Revisions to HOP 7.2.1 - Probationary Period for Regular Classified Employees
On May 21, 2012, HOP 7.2.1-Probationary Period for Regular Classified Staff Employees was approved for interim implementation by the President and submitted for final approval to UT System. Revisions to this policy include:
· Employees who voluntarily transfer or are involuntarily transferred to another classified staff position will begin a new probationary period effective the first day of the new appointment.
ยท Employees must satisfactorily complete a 6 months probationary period with no disciplinary action on file with HR in order to be eligible for subsequent transfer, promotion, or demotion from their current department (exceptions noted in policy).
The discipline and dismissal process pursuant to HOP 7.7.2 - Discipline and Dismissal of Classified Employees is not applicable to probationary employees. Probationary classified staff employees serve at the pleasure of the University until they successfully complete the probationary period. For additional information regarding the operating procedure, please visit the UTPA Handbook of Operating Procedures http://www.utpa.edu/hop/policies/?7.2.1.
Staff employees and supervisors are encouraged to review the revised policy as soon as possible.
