The Office of Career Services will be having an On Campus Student Employment Job Fair on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the UTPA Ballroom.
This is an excellent opportunity to talk with on campus departments about their available work-study and/or direct wage positions. The departments that will be in attendance are eager to hire students for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year.
Quick overview of Student Employment:
Student Employment can be divided into two categories: work-study and direct wage. Both work-study and direct wage employment is considered part-time employment (average of 19 hours a week), located on campus, and the work schedule is flexible and based on your class schedule. Student employees are paid once a month.
Work-study employment is based on financial need determined by the FAFSA. A work-study position requires for you to be awarded work-study, enrolled at least half time (6 hrs), and meet UTPA's Satisfactory Academic Policy Requirements.
Direct Wage employment is not based on the FAFSA and a work-study award is not needed to be hired. You must be enrolled at UTPA in order to participate.
