Voices for the Voiceless Public Speaking Contest

The Department of Communication will host the first "Voices for the Voiceless" advocacy public speaking contest from Noon-1:00pm on Tuesday, November 25th in SCIE 2.104. Exemplary students from beginning presentational speaking courses will compete as they urge audience members to support specific local nonprofit organizations. Beginning in 1988, different regions, states and countries across the WORLD have united in the fight against HIV/AIDS every 1st of December when we have formally commemorated World AIDS Day. Communities at large use this day to show their support to those living with HIV/AIDS, remember those that have lost their lives and remind others to get tested. Currently, there are over 74,000 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Texas and 3,000 of those individuals live in South Texas .
