FW: THEnet alert [Alert 220]: General: MAINTENANCE: South Texas DWDM Ring - Revised

Good afternoon everyone!

Please refer to network maintenance notification below from our Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Our ISP will be working with their South Texas Transport Provider to re-route customer circuits from McAllen to Laredo to San Antonio to restore protection to the South Texas Lambda (DWDM) ring.

This work has been scheduled for Wednesday night September 2nd at 11:30pm with a maintenance window of four hours to mitigate any unforeseen difficulties which may arise in the process.

During the maintenance window, all UT & TAMU institutions in the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, and Corpus Christi will experience Internet outages as circuits are re-routed. Refer to notification below for additional details.

Please note this work will only impact Internet & Internet2 (external) access. It will not impact any UTPA intra-campus communication as it involves equipment configuration and circuits outside the campus.

Should you experience any problems after this maintenance window, please contact the Helpdesk at extension x2020. In addition, please feel free to forward this information to staff and faculty in your departments who may find this information pertinent. Thank you.
