Hello everyone, 

Please refer to network maintenance notification below from our Internet Service Provider (ISP).
 
Our ISP will be replacing core network equipment at the Harlingen RAHC on Thursday night beginning at 11:00pm. The maintenance window has been set from 11:00pm to 1:00am.
 
During the maintenance window, UT institutions and customers in the Rio Grande Valley may experience several brief outages as services automatically fail over to redundant paths as the work is performed. Please refer to notification below for additional details. This work may only impact Internet & Internet2 access for UTPA. It will not impact any UTPA intra-campus communication as it involves equipment configuration outside our campus.

Network Maintenance - Sunday June 6th from 8:00am to 12:00 Noon

Good day everyone!

The Network Services Department has scheduled maintenance for this Sunday June 26th, 2011 to update network equipment firmware and to update the routing configuration on the UTPA network. The work will begin at 8:00am and we expect to be done by 12:00 noon. 
 
During the maintenance window, routing within the campus network will be briefly interrupted intermittently while configuration changes are applied to equipment and verified. Additionally, access to data center resources will be briefly interrupted as network equipment is rebooted after firmware upgrades. Resources that are likely to be impacted by this maintenance include Banner, Oracle, e-mail, Internet access, Blackboard, computer labs network access, and wireless network access. In brief, all network resources could be briefly impacted.

Network Maintenance - Friday May 27th 10:00pm to 12:00 Midnight

Good morning everyone!

The Network Services Department has scheduled maintenance for this Friday night May 27nd, 2011 to update firmware on network equipment. Work will begin at 10:00pm and we expect to be done by 12:00 midnight. 
 
During the maintenance window, Internet access will be impacted for a few minutes as equipment is upgraded and rebooted. Wireless network access will be unavailable for up to two hours as equipment is upgraded and rebooted. This maintenance will only impact Internet access and wireless network access. All other intra-campus communication should not be affected.

Wireless Network Maintenance - Sunday April 3, 2011 from 8:00am to 11:00am

Good morning everyone!

The Network Services Department has scheduled routine maintenance on our wireless network equipment for this Sunday April 3rd, 2011 at 8:00am.

We expect to have wireless outages across campus as equipment is worked on. The UTPA wireless network should only be affected for a period of approximately one hour. Nevertheless, we have given ourselves a three hour window to address any unforeseen events that may surface during this maintenance cycle.

Please note this work will affect the wireless network only. All other communication within the campus and access to the Internet should not be affected by this maintenance.

Starting this Friday evening at 6:00pm until 8:00pm our ISP will be reconfiguring the Rio Grande Valley network topology to better serve customers in the area. This change will separate network traffic for UTB, UTPA, and UTHSCSA's H-RAHC & E-RAHC campuses into two separate rings from the current single ring configuration.

Message: The Office of Telecommunication Services, The University of Texas at Brownsville, The University of Texas Pan American, and The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio will be reconfiguring the Rio Grande Valley Metro Ethernet on Friday, 18 February commencing at 6:00 P.M. CDT.
 
Impact on traffic will be minimal (20 to 40 seconds). The actual work should accomplished in approximately 45 minutes commencing at 6:00 P.M CDT. However, OTS will reserve a full two (2) hours in case of difficulty.

Our ISP will be upgrading their Austin core router this Sunday January 16th starting at 8:00am through 12:00pm.
 
During the maintenance window, all UT institutions and customers in the State of Texas will experience a drop at the beginning and end of the maintenance window as services automatically fail over to redundant paths. However, additional drops may be experienced during this window if further testing is required. Please refer to notification below for additional details.
 
Please note this work will only impact Internet & Internet2 access. It will not impact any UTPA intra-campus communication as it involves equipment configuration outside our campus.

Network Maintenance - Monday January 10th at 11:59pm

Good afternoon everyone!

The Network Services department has scheduled maintenance for this Monday night, January 10th, 2011 to address recurring intermittent problems with our border router.  In conjunction with this work, the Information Security team will be rebooting the campus firewall.  The work is scheduled to begin at 11:59pm and we expect to be done within an hour.  Nevertheless, we have given ourselves a four hour maintenance window to address any unforeseen difficulties that may arise in the process.
 
During this maintenance window Internet connectivity will be unavailable or sporadically available as we proceed with the scheduled maintenance.  All other intra-campus network communication should not be affected.
