2003 TRACK OUTLOOK: McCarthy is expected to contribute in the middle distance events for the Lady Broncs. She will focus her labors on the 800 meter run both indoors and outdoors. She is also expected to take a crack at the mile indoors and the metric mile outdoors, while competing on severl relay teams. COACH’S COMMENTS: “Margeaux has good speed and should be able to make the transition to being a top-flight 800 meter collegiate runner.” 2002 CROSS COUNTRY: McCarthy showed plenty of improvement throughout the year, finishing 20th in 21:15 at Texas-San Antonio for 5000 meters as the Lady Broncs finished third. McCarthy finished as UTPA’s fifth scorer at the NCAA Regional Championships, with a personal best for 6000 meters of 24:53. PREP: The three-time captain of the PSJA Lady Raiders qualified for the Texas 5A Regional Championships at 800 meters, and as a member of the 4 x 400 meter meter relay team on three separate occasions.
