LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL TEAM SIGNS JENNIFER DAMEWORTH EDINBURG, TX- The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team has signed its second recruit for the fall. Jennifer Dameworth, a 5-11 setter and hitter from Franklin High School in El Paso, Texas, has signed with the Lady Broncs. She will enter as a freshman, with four years of eligibility. Dameworth was named both Outstanding Hitter and Outstanding Setter in District 1-5A as a senior. She was named All-State by the Texas Girls' Coaches Association, was a TGCA West all-star, was named first team All-City by the El Paso Times, was the Most Valuable Player in the Bev Ball Classic, and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Sweet Sixteen Tournament in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The captain of her team, Dameworth was also named Miss Volleyball for El Paso. Dameworth averaged 3.67 kills per game last season for Franklin. She also averaged .395 aces per game, and 0.8 blocks per game. In her three years as a member of FHS's varsity team, her team went undefeated in district play (29-0) and won three consecutive district championships. Franklin's overall record during those three years was 83-15, and they won a playoff match for the first time in school history during her senior season. "Jennifer is an outstanding athlete who brings a lot of experience to our program," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "She has played every position on the court, but her biggest contribution here will be as a setter. She has great hands, very good ball control skills, and is tall and athletic. Jennifer is also a quality person, and will be a great asset to our team." Dameworth joins Chrissie Carrigan of Mount Douglas Secondary School in Victoria, British Columbia as Lady Bronc recruits for the fall. VB-44-03 060303 |
