LADY BRONCS FALL AT CAL POLY SLO

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA-The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team ran into a buzzsaw in the first match of their season-ending, four match road trip to California.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo downed the Lady Broncs, 30-16, 30-17 and 30-16 at Mott Gymnasium.

Junior outside hitter Cathi Netemeyer (Los Fresnos, CA/Los Fresnos HS/Iowa) led the Lady Broncs, Netemeyer had 15 kills and hit .333, while junior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA/Walnut HS) had 11 kills and 13 digs. Freshman setter Katie Burke (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) had 29 assists. Molly Duncan had 10 kills and nine kills for the Mustangs, who outhit Texas-Pan American, .415-.194. Worthy Lien and Kristen O'Halloran added nine kills apiece, and Lindsey Martin had eight.

With the defeat, UTPA fell to 16-16. Cal Poly SLO improved to 15-12.

The Lady Broncs will take the next two days off. They will return to action when they visit Long Beach State Friday night.
