Immediate Release: Monday, September 16, 2002 LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL TEAM HOSTS TAMUKEDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team will try to win their second match at home in as many tries when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville Tuesday evening. The match begins at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse. The Lady Broncs, who defeated Texas Southern last Tuesday night in their home opener, enter the match with a 1-9 record after losing three matches last weekend at the BorderLand Battle. “It’s great to be back home,” said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. “We were getting a little road-weary, and any time you play in front of your fans, it’s a good thing. It served us well last Tuesday, and, hopefully, it will be good for us again.” The Lady Javelinas are 6-6, and TAMUK and the Lady Broncs split a pair of matches last season, with each team winning at home. “It’s a rivalry, so whenever these two teams meet, you can throw the records out the window,” said Thorn. “It’s usually a good match whenever we play Texas A&M-Kingsville, and I anticipate the same thing this time around.” UTPA will return to action this weekend, playing Wyoming, Texas Southern and Tulsa at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi.
