Immediate Release: Friday, September 13, 2002 LADY BRONCS FALL AT UTEPEL PASO, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American’s
volleyball team dropped a close one at Texas-El Paso Friday night. Junior outside hitter Cathi Netemeyer (Los Fresnos, TX/Los Fresnos HS/Iowa) led Texas-Pan American in defeat. Netemeyer had 12 kills, seven digs and hit .318. Junior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA/Walnut HS) added 12 kills and nine digs, junior outside hitter Winker Cruz (Harlingen, TX/Harlingen South HS) had 10 kills and five digs, and freshman setter Katie Burke (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) had 37 assists and 11 digs. Megan Brock had 14 kills and hit .824 for UTEP. Jennifer Abbruzzese added 13 kills and 13 digs, Ana Fontes had 12 kills and Michelle Norman had 43 assists. The Lady Miners outhit UTPA, .333-.215. “Once again, we were right there,” said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. “We were very close to winning, but we just made a few mistakes. We are continuing to improve, and, hopefully, we’ll get at least one tomorrow.” The Lady Broncs fell to 1-7 with the defeat, while UTEP improved to 3-4.
