LADY BRONCS DOWN LMSR IN THREE GAMES EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's volleyball team used Saturday night's exhibition match against Liga Select Municipal of Reynosa, Mexico to let most all of their players see game action. The result was an artistic success, as the Lady Broncs cruised to a 30-13, 30-17, 30-13 sweep at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Senior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA) and freshman outside hitter Chrissie Carrigan (Victoria, BC/Mount Douglas SS) shared offensive honors for Texas-Pan American. Each had 14 kills in the match. Muszynski added 11 digs and hit .429, while Carrigan added 16 digs and hit .387. Freshman libero Carol Marcengo (Curitiba, Brazil/SPEI HS) had 13 digs in just two games, and three setters combined for 53 assists. Junior middle blocker Jaclyn Olvera (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) had five kills, three blocks and hit .667, and the Lady Broncs hit .395 compared to LMSR's .028. Anna Suarez-Costa led Liga Municipal with eight kills. "It was nice to be able to get to play a lot of people, and use some different lineups," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "Jaclyn and Chrissie each had a double-double, while Jaclyn Olvera had career highs in several categories. It was a very positive match, and it will help get us ready for next Tuesday night." The Lady Broncs will play their final home match of the 2003 season when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville Tuesday evening. The match begins at 5:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse, and it will be Senior Night. VB-34-04103103
