impact player as an outside hitter as a freshman, Darway returns after
redshirting in 2002...Hit .191 during her freshman season in
2001 to lead all returning Lady Broncs... Ranked second on the
team in kills (331) and kills per game (2.96) as well as digs (281)
and digs per game (2.51).....Tied for the lead with 37 service aces
and ranked first in service aces per game (0.33).....Her 19 kills against
Texas A&M-Kingsville October 16th was the best single-game performance
by a Texas-Pan American player in that category.......Helped lead ARROYO
GRANDE HIGH SCHOOL to a 68-15 record during her four years there.....Named
first team All-League, first team All-County and Most Valuable Player
of her team as a senior......Earned team and league MVP honors and was
named All-Conference as a junior.....Team captain in each of her final
two seasons......Starred for the San Luis Obispo Juniors....Named a
Scholar Athlete in each of her four years, and was a member of the Honor
Roll each year as well.....Earned the Golden State award in algebra....Editor
of her high school yearbook.....Active in 4H.....Served as a referee
for youth volleyball matches.....Volunteer teachers’ aide at a
local elementary school......Born September 6, 1983..........The daughter
of Judith and Charles Darway.....Has two sisters, Melinda and Jessica,
and a brother, Chuck.......Still deciding on her major at UTPA.
