BRONCS TO VISIT KANSAS STATE

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball team will play their third consecutive road game when they visit Big 12 opponent Kansas State Wednesday night. Tip-off time is 7:00 p.m. at KSU's Bramlage Coliseum.

Texas-Pan American brings a 2-6 record into Wednesday night's game. The Broncs dropped both of their games on the road last week, losing at Air Force, 65-44, and at Saint Louis, 57-42.

The Wildcats have a long and storied tradition of basketball. KSU head coaches have included former Phoenix Suns Head Coach Cotton Fitzsimmons and current Los Angeles Lakers Assistant Coach Tex Winter, as well as former Texas-Pan American and current Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Lon Kruger, who led the Wildcats to four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament after coaching at UTPA from 1982 through 1986. "Kansas State has great tradition, and they have a great home court advantage," said UTPA Head Coach Bob Hoffman. "We're excited about another opportunity to get on the floor, continue to get better against a quality opponent, and see how much improvement we've made."

KSU is 2-4, and split their games last week, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff at home last Wednesday night and losing at Wisconsin-Green Bay last Saturday evening. "(Head) Coach (Jim) Wooldridge has done a great job there, they had a lot of big wins during the second half of the season last year against Big 12 opponents," said Hoffman. "Coach Wooldridge was with the Bulls, and he learned the triangle offense, and that's what they run. They do a great job of understanding what they have to do, and they are playing very well."

The game will be telecast locally in Kansas, and available to anyone who can pick up a satellite feed using the following coordinates: SBS6, transponder 17.

The Broncs will return home after the Kansas State game to host Schreiner next Monday evening.
