A freshman from Falfurrias, TX and Falfurrias High School, Salinas will assist the coaching staff this season.

Salinas was a three-year letterwinner at Falfurrias HS, serving as team captain in each of his final two seasons. Named first team All-State at third base and to the All-Bay Area first team as a senior, Salinas also named All-District 3B honors. He was also named District Newcomer of the Year, and twice lettered as a quarterback for the football team.

A good student, Salinas was named to the National Honor Society. He was Student Council President as a junior and as a senior, and participated in the One Act Play. The son of David and Sandra Salinas, David has a sister, Jennifer, and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at UTPA.
