The first recruit signed by the Broncs in the fall of 2002, Smith earned first team All-District honors as a senior at SANGER HIGH SCHOOL.......Hit .509 as a junior, with an on-base percentage of over .600............Named Offensive Most Valuable Player.....Thirteen of his 27 hits went for extra bases...... Had a slugging percentage of .811 and 26 runs batted in while playing in 23 games........ Had an on-base percentage of .525 as a sophomore, with 11 of his 19 hits going for extra bases...Chosen as Newcomer of the Year.......Also played basketball and participated in track and field and cross country............Named Newcomer of the Year and earned All-District honors in basketball..........Played for the Arlington Wizards, a Select Baseball team that played all over Texas and traveled to Florida.
