UTPA Track and Field to Host Angela Proctor Invitational on Saturday Morning

EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Track and Field team will host its second track and field meet of the season, the Angela Proctor Invitational, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the UTPA Track and Field Stadium.

The meet, which will include the Broncs, Lady Broncs and the men’s and women’s teams from the University of Mississippi, Minnesota State-Mankato and Incarnate Word, is scheduled to start with the men’s 5,000 meter at 9 a.m.  Field events will get underway with the men’s and women’s javelin at 10 a.m.

The final running events of the day, the men’s and women’s 4x400 meter relays, are scheduled to start at 1:20 p.m.  The final field events of the day, the shot put, discus and triple jump, all for both men and women, will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs are coming off a strong performance last weekend in the UTPA Spring Fever Open. Dawne Hill broke her own school record in the hammer throw, while Gonzalo Gonzalez and Shari Galvin each won two events to lead the way for UTPA last week.  Hill broke her old school record in the hammer throw by more than a foot with a toss of 148-9 ½.  Gonzalez won both the shot put and discus by wide margins and Galvin won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
