UT-Pan American Cross Country at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships
DENTON, TX- The University of Texas-Pan American Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Team finished in 15th and 13th place respectively at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships Saturday in Denton, TX.
Esmer Davila was the first Lady Bronc to run the 5K course. Davila finished in 63rd place with a time of 19:44. Olaya Teran ran a time of 20:11, which placed her 71st. Four seconds behind Teran was Sandy Guerrero (20:15) in 73rd place. Perla Rios and Blanca Reyes finished in 79th and 85th with times of 20:35 and 20:50 respectively.
Danny Salazar in 76th place was the top finisher for the men. Salazar ran the 10K course in 34:56. Julio Aguilar and Eddie Aguilar finished in 35:08 and 35:52 respectively. Julio placed 77th and Eddie came in 82nd. Israel Arroyo turned in a time of 36:26, which placed him, 85th. Adrian Palacios, 89th, completed the course in 37:58.
The University of Arkansas ran away from the competition in both the men’s 10K and women’s 5K. Arkansas had a total of eight runners, four women and four men, finish in the top ten, including both the men and women’s overall winners. Michael Power of Arkansas took home top honors completing the course in 30:07 (minutes), 19 seconds ahead of teammate Andrew Begley. Lilli Kleinmann, also running for Arkansas, was the first woman to cross the finish line in 16:53.
This was the final event of the season for both Men and Women’s Cross-Country Teams.
