EDINBURG-The University of Texas-Pan American Lady Broncs defeated the Ladies of Centenary College at the UTPA Fieldhouse in women’s basketball action on Thursday night 72-43.

The Lady Broncs were led by freshman Naima Williams with 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals.  Joining Williams in double figures were Cheveron Terry with 18 points and Alexandra Gravel added 11 points.  Gravel leads the team in scoring with 11.6 ppg.

With 13:53 left in the game, the Lady Broncs went on a 16-0 run to seal the victory.  “We make up for our mistakes on offense due to our intensity on defense,” said head coach Kathy Halligan.  Gravel and Terry had six steals apiece to led the team in that department. “We would get steals due to our aggressive style of defense,” Halligan added.

The Lady Broncs return to action on Saturday at the UTPA Fieldhouse in a double header with men’s basketball against Belmont University.  Tip off for the Lady Broncs is at 5:00, and the men’s basketball game starts at 7:30.
