INDEPENDENT COACHES, SIDs
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American
senior Kelli Kreuser (Bettendorf, IA/Davenport North HS/Truman State
University) has been honored. Kreuser has been named first team All-Independent
and has been named Newcomer of the Year for the 2001-2002 season. She
was chosen in a vote by head coaches and sports information directors at
nine Division I independent schools. Kreuser averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.3
assists and 2.4 steals per game for the Lady Broncs during the 2001-2002
season. She started all 28 games averaged more than 37 minutes played
per game, and made 72.7 per cent of her free throws. She scored in
double figures 23 times, including each of the last 20 games. “I think Kelli is very deserving of the honor
bestowed upon her,” said UTPA Associate Head Coach Carol Russell.
“During her entire career, she has worked very hard. She led our team
this year with her leadership as well as by the way she played.” Kreuser transferred to UTPA this season after
playing her first three seasons at Truman State University. FIRST TEAM ALL-INDEPENDENT
