The Lady Broncs signed middle blocker Stephanie Redd to a letter of intent. 

4/15/02-Lady Broncs Sign Katie Burke:
The Lady Broncs have signed setter Katie Burke for the fall. 

3/25/02-Lady Broncs Set Tryout:
The Lady Broncs will hold tryouts April 1 and 3 at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

11/28/01-Lady Broncs Sign Jackie Sanchez: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team has added its first recruit for the fall-middle blocker Jackie Sanchez of Schaumburg, IL and Schaumburg High School. 

11/19/01-UTPA Has Four Named All-Independent: Four members of the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team earned All-Independent honors for the 2001 season, and sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski was named as the Offensive Most Valuable Player.

11/15/01-Lady Broncs Win Finale: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team will take a nine-match winning streak into the off-season. The Lady Broncs won their season finale, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 23-30, 30-26, 22-30, 30-25 and 15-13, at Moody Gym.  

11/12/01-Lady Broncs Visit TAMU-CC in Finale:
After ending their home season with a tournament championship, the University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team will play their final match of the season on the road when they visit Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this Thursday evening.

11/10/01-Lady Broncs Champs, Muszynski MVP: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team repeated as Independent Tournament champs by defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 30-18, 30-26 and 30-27 at the UTPA Fieldhouse Saturday night. Sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Freshman outside hitter Sandy Darway joined Muszynski on the All-Tournament Team.  
11/10/01-Lady Broncs to Play for Title:
The Lady Broncs defeated Centenary, 30-25, 30-23 and 30-17, Saturday, setting up a match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the championship of the Independent Tournament at the UTPA Fieldhouse Saturday night.

UTPA Defeats Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Tournament: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team saved their best for last at the Independent Volleyball Tournament Friday evening. After dropping the first game, the Lady Broncs came back to defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 28-30, 30-18, 30-27 and 30-9 at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

11/09/01-Lady Broncs Down Lipscomb in 1st Round of Tournament: Sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski had 18 kills, 11 digs and hit .279 to lead the Lady Broncs past Lipscomb, 30-20, 30-13, 30-19 in the first round of the Independent Tournament at the UTPA Fieldhouse Friday afternoon. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi downed Centenary, 30-22, 30-22, 31-29.

11/05/01-Lady Broncs Host TSU, Independent Tournament: The final week at home will be a busy one for the University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team. The Lady Broncs will host Texas Southern Wednesday evening and the Second Annual Independent Tournament this Friday and Saturday.  

11/04/01-UTPA Wins Third Straight: The Lady Broncs earned a sweep of their three-match road trip, defeating host Texas Southern Sunday, 30-24, 30-20, 26-30 and 30-23.

Two matches for the University of Texas-Pan American spelled double trouble for their opponents in the Houston area Saturday.  

10/31/01-SHSU Edges Lady Broncs:
The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to Sam Houston State Wednesday evening, losing 30-27, 23-30, 30-20, 25-30 and 15-10 at the UTPA Fieldhouse.  

10/29/01-Lady Broncs Play Four This Week: The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team will continue their busy schedule this week. 

10/27/01-UIW Ends Lady Broncs’ Winning Streak:
Playing for the fourth time in six days proved a bit too much for the University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team Saturday. Incarnate Word ended the Lady Broncs’ three-match winning streak by winning, 30-22, 30-24, and 30-22 at McDermott Gymnasium.

10/25/01-Lady Broncs Win Third in Row: Freshman outside hitter Sandy Darway had 17 kills, 10 digs and a .275 hitting percentage as the Lady Broncs won for the third consecutive time and fifth time in their last six matches, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 30-22, 30-18, 22-30, 19-30 and 18-16 at the UTPA Fieldhouse Thursday evening. Sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski had 15 kills, 14 digs and a .387 hitting percentage as the Lady Broncs won for the fourth time in their last five matches, sweeping Texas A&M-Kingsville, 33-31, 30-17 and 30-17 at the UTPA Fieldhouse Tuesday. 

10/22/01-UTPA Sweeps Centenary: Sophomore middle blocker Mindy Hubik had 13 kills and hit ..333 as the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team defeated Centenary, 30-26, 30-24, and 30-18 at the UTPA Fieldhouse Monday night.

10/16/01-Lady Broncs Fall at TAMU-Kingsville: Freshman outside hitter Sandy Darway (San Luis Obispo, CA/Arroyo Grande HS) had 23 kills, 19 digs and hit. 321, but the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team lost to Texas A&M-Kingsville in five games Tuesday night.

10/15/01-Lady Broncs Have Short Week, at Texas A&M-Kingsville: After winning twice in a row for the first time this season, The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team will hit the road again without much of a rest. UTPA’s only match this week is scheduled for tomorrow night, when the Lady Broncs visit Texas A&M-Kingsville at 7:00 p.m.

10/13/01-Lady Broncs Down Texas A&M-Commerce in Five:
The University of Texas-Pan American's combination of  setter Shawnda McDowell and Jaclyn Muszynski  was a little too much for Texas A&M-Commerce in their volleyball match at the Gold Dome in Shreveport, LA Saturday.

10/12/01-Lady Broncs Down Centenary in Four: Sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski had 17 kills, 12 digs and hit .364 as the University of Texas-Pan American Lady Broncs defeated Centenary in four games at the Gold Dome Friday night.

10/09/01-Lady Broncs Travel to Louisiana for Two Matches: The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team will head north this weekend, visiting Centenary College for a pair of matches. UTPA will play Centenary at 7 p.m. Friday evening, and Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday afternoon in Shreveport at 1 p.m.  

10/05/01-Lady Broncs Fall to UIW:  Incarnate Word defeated the University of Texas-Pan American, 30-20, 30-28, 30-19  at the UTPA Fieldhouse Friday night.  

10/03/01-Lady Broncs Host Incarnate Word Friday Night: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team hosts Incarnate Word this Friday night, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

10/02/01-Lady Broncs Fall, McDowell Shines: Sophomore setter Shawnda McDowell came close to a triple double as the Lady Broncs fell to host UC Irvine, 30-19, 30-22 and 30-20 at Crawford Hall late Monday night.

9/30/01-UTPA loses to Titans in Three: Cal State Fullerton defeated the Lady Broncs, 30-18, 30-16 and 30-18 at Titan Gym late Saturday night.

9/29/01-VB Loses California Opener:  The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball turned in a strong defensive effort, but fell to host Cal State Northridge, 30-19, 30-23 and 30-23,at the Matadome  late Friday night..

9/25/01-Off to California: After resuming play with a two-match home stand after a 12-day hiatus occasioned by the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team will hit the road later this week to play three matches in four nights in California.

9/25/01-October 6th Match is Cancelled: The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball match against Universidad Regiomontana, scheduled for Saturday, October 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse, has been cancelled.

9/24/01-UTPA Falls to NMSU in Four: The University of Texas-Pan American’s volleyball team made one valiant comeback in their match against New Mexico State at the UTPA Fieldhouse Monday evening. But the Lady Broncs’ second attempt at a similar performance fell short, and they dropped a four-game decision to the Aggies, losing 30-26, 30-17, 27-30 and 30-18.  

9/21/01-Lady Bronc Volleyball Team Sweeps Alumni:   Sophomore Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA/Walnut HS) had 17 kills and freshman Sandy Darway (San Luis Obispo, CA/Arroyo Grande HS) added 15 as the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team swept the Lady Bronc Alumni, 30-21, 30-26 and 31-29, at the UTPA Fieldhouse Friday evening.

9/17/01-Lady Broncs Host Alumni Friday, NMSU Monday: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team will end a twelve-day hiatus when they return to action by hosting a UTPA alumni team Friday night and New Mexico State next  Monday evening. Friday’s match begins at 7:00 p.m. Monday’s match, which was rescheduled after being postponed Saturday, September 15th, is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.

9/12/01 - UTPA Volleyball Match Against New Mexico State University Cancelled:  As a result of the recent terrorist attacks that occurred in our country, the Lady Bronc Volleyball match vs. New Mexico State University, originally scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the UTPA Fieldhouse, has been cancelled.  NMSU contacted UTPA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics earlier today to notify the Lady Bronc Volleyball program that initial travel plans have been affected by the recent and tragic events.

9/05/01 - Lamar Defeats UTPA at Corpus Christi in Neutral Site Match:  Lamar University rolled to a straight set victory defeating the UTPA Lady Broncs by scores of 30-15, 30-15 and 30-26.  Tuesday’s match was played at a neutral site and was hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  

9/03/01 - UT Pan American Volleyball Team Loses to Pac-10 Foe Oregon But Continues to Improve:  The University of Texas-Pan American Volleyball Team continued to show improvement, but fell to the University of Oregon 30-17, 30-16, 30-15 at the UTPA Fieldhouse last night.

UTPA Volleyball Opens the 2001 Home Schedule With Match vs. PAC-10 Foe Oregon
EDINBURG, TX – The University of Texas-Pan American Volleyball team will open their 2001 home schedule with the first-ever match against a PAC-10 opponent when they host the University of Oregon.  The match will take place on Monday, September 3, 2001 and will start at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse, the longtime home of Lady Bronc Volleyball.

UTPA Lady Bronc Volleyball Team Signs California Native
EDINBURG, TX, -- The Lady Bronc volleyball team is excited to announce the signing of California native, Amanda Rhine, to a National Letter of Intent.  Rhine is the second signee for the Lady Bronc squad, joining San Luis Obispo (SLO) teammate Sandra Darway who signed with the Lady Broncs last November during the early signing period.  

UTPA Volleyball Team Signs 6’3 North Texas Native
EDINBURG, Texas - Jennifer Scanlan, a native of North Texas, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at UTPA for the upcoming 2001 season. Scanlan, a 6’3 middle blocker, will join Sandy Darway who has already signed with the Lady Bronc program.

3/23/01 - UTPA Women's Volleyball Team Enjoys Solid Performance at Monterrey Spring Break Tournament: The UTPA women's volleyball team enjoyed a solid performance at the Monterrey Spring Break tournament. The Broncs finished third in the six team tournament featuring the Nuevo Leon Cadets, the Nuevo Leon Juveniles, Monterrey Tech, Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and
Regionmontana.

12/22/00 - UT Pan American Volleyball Coach Christine Phillips Participates in NCAA Y.E.S. Clinic: University of Texas-Pan American Assistant Volleyball Coach Christine Phillips recently participated in the NCAA Youth Education Through Sports (Y.E.S.) Clinic in Richmond, Virginia.  Phillips was one of just 10 NCAA Division I Coaches to work at the Clinic.

12/8/00 - UT Pan American Volleyball Receives Honors; Thorn Named Coach of the Year: University of Texas-Pan American Head Coach Dave Thorn was named National Independent Coach of the Year, while four players received individual honors in the recent Independent Volleyball Awards.

11/21/00 UTPA Volleyball Wraps Up Best Season in School History with Win Over Corpus Christi: Senior Lorena Lopez had a nearly flawless match as the University of Texas-Pan American Volleyball Team defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the season finale for both teams Tuesday night at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

11/12/99 - UT-Pan American Volleyball Drops Opening Match at Southwest Missouri Invitational: The University of Texas-Pan American Lady Broncs opened tournament play against Idaho State University. Idaho State defeated the Lady Broncs in four games 15-5, 15-10, 11-15, 15-6.

10/26/99 - Reaux, Martinez Lead Texas A&M-Kingsville Past UT-Pan American in Volleyball: Kenisha Reaux had 23 kills and Kim Martinez had 20 kills as Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated the University of Texas-Pan American, 15-13, 15-5, 15-7, in volleyball action Tuesday night at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

10/16/99 - UT-Pan American Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight Match, Rolling Past Centenary: The University of Texas-Pan American rolled to it’s fourth straight win, thanks to strong efforts from Billie Forrester, Misty Cook and Lorena Lopez, defeating Centenary College, 15-12, 15-12, 15-10, Saturday afternoon at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

9/23/99 - Trevino-Ramos Leads Lady Broncs Volleyball Rolls Past Texas Southern: In just her fourth match this season Rosie Trevino-Ramos had a team season-high seven blocks to lead the University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team to an easy 15-7, 15-6, 15-7, win over Texas Southern Friday night at the TSU Health and Physical Education Center.

Austin Tournament: The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team dropped a pair of matches, to St. Louis and Stephen F. Austin, on the first day of the Stephen F. Austin Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
