TEAM ADDS CATHI NETEMEYER
EDINBURG, TX-The University of
Texas-Pan American has signed its third recruit of the spring signing
period. The Lady Broncs have added Cathi
Netemeyer, an outside hitter from Los Fresnos High School in Los Fresnos,
Texas and the University of Iowa. Netemeyer will join UTPA as a
sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining. After redshirting as a freshman at
Iowa, Netemeyer saw action in 55 games last season, averaging 1.64 kills
per game, and hitting .149. A four-sport athlete at Los Fresnos
HS, Netemeyer earned All-State honors as a junior and a senior. Named
first team All-District and All-Area in each of her last two seasons,
Netemeyer was chosen. second team All-District, All-Area and All-Rio
Grande Valley as a sophomore, named Most Valuable Player in the district
in each of her last two seasons, and also received Academic All-State
honors in both 1999 and 2000. Netemeyer also starred in track and field,
basketball and softball at LFHS. “Cathi is an explosive athlete who will make an immediate impact for us on the front line,” said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. “She is a dynamic hitter who will give us another powerful player at the outside hitter position. We tried to recruit her two years ago, and I’m very happy that she has chosen to return and come to UTPA.” VB-18-01
