TEAM SIGNS STEPHANIE REDD
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American
has signed another volleyball recruit. The Lady Broncs have added Stephanie Redd, a middle blocker from Seguin High School in Seguin, Texas. Redd will enter UTPA as a freshman this fall, with four years of eligibility. Redd averaged 4.2 kills, 2.2 blocks, 1.36 digs and
1.07 aces per game for Seguin High School, earning first team
All-District honors as a junior and as a senior. Redd was twice named
Most Valuable Player of her team, earned All-Tournament honors, was a
team captain, and received the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete Award. A good student, Redd was named to the National
Honor Society, the National Vocational Technology Honor Society, and the
Honor Roll, and was named Student of the Month. She also played for the
Alamo Juniors club volleyball team. “Stephanie is an imposing, physical blocker who
will be a big force for us in the middle this year,” said UTPA Head
Coach Dave Thorn. “Her main strengths are hitting and blocking at the
net. She’s a quality athlete who is working with one of the top club
programs in the state of Texas. Stephanie has the potential to be an
excellent Division I player, and we’re looking forward to having her
