LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL TEAM SIGNS STEPHANIE REDD

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American has signed another volleyball recruit.

The Lady Broncs have added Stephanie Redd, a middle blocker from Seguin High School in Seguin, Texas. Redd will enter UTPA as a freshman this fall, with four years of eligibility.

Redd averaged 4.2 kills, 2.2 blocks, 1.36 digs and 1.07 aces per game for Seguin High School, earning first team All-District honors as a junior and as a senior. Redd was twice named Most Valuable Player of her team, earned All-Tournament honors, was a team captain, and received the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete Award.

A good student, Redd was named to the National Honor Society, the National Vocational Technology Honor Society, and the Honor Roll, and was named Student of the Month. She also played for the Alamo Juniors club volleyball team.

“Stephanie is an imposing, physical blocker who will be a big force for us in the middle this year,” said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. “Her main strengths are hitting and blocking at the net. She’s a quality athlete who is working with one of the top club programs in the state of Texas. Stephanie has the potential to be an excellent Division I player, and we’re looking forward to having her play for us next season.”
