For Immediate Release: Monday, 12 November 2001 LADY BRONCS VISIT TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
FOR SEASON FINALE EDINBURG-After ending their home season with a
tournament championship, the University of Texas-Pan American’s
volleyball team will play their final match of the season on the road
when they visit Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this Thursday evening The Lady Broncs and Lady Islanders will be meeting for the fourth time this season. UTPA has won the first three matches, all of which were played at the UTPA Fieldhouse and the final one of which was the championship match of last weekend’s Independent Volleyball Tournament. “Our challenge is to keep our team focused on our
last match, and thew fact that we are undefeated against independent
opponents for the last two years,” said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn.
“We will try to use that as a motivating factor. I’m sure Corpus
Christi will be looking for revenge, and it will be their senior night,
so we have to take this seriously and come to play.” UTPA takes an eight-match winning streak and a 14-17 record into Thursday’s match. The Lady Islanders are 16-14. “It’s always best to win your last game,” said Thorn. “It’s always the one you remember. Not many teams get to end their season with a victory.” VB-10-01
