TICKETS ON SALE FOR UTPA STUDENTS EDINBURG, TX-Students at The University of Texas-Pan American can take advantage of a special deal to purchase tickets for the Broncs' games at the South Padre Island Roundball Invitational Tournament next weekend. UTPA students can buy tickets good for a bus ride to and from each game, a ticket to each game and an orange Bronc T-shirt for just $15, as a result of a promotion put together by the UTPA Athletic Department in conjunction with the UTPA University Program Board. The first bus that is filled with students will win a pizza party. The promotion is designed to build spirit at what UTPA Head Coach Bob Hoffman has coined the Bronc Beach House. Tickets for this special deal may be purchased at the UTPA Student Union Director's office. Students who do not ride the bus will also be able to purchase tickets good for both UTPA games at the South Padre Island Convention Center for $15 by showing proof of a hotel stay at South Padre Island for the weekend. Otherwise, they will have to purchase tournament passes for the regular price of $45. For more information, contact the UTPA Program Board at 956-316-7991. The Broncs will play New Mexico State next Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. and play Tulsa Sunday afternoon, November 24th at 12 noon. Last year, UTPA's 20-10 record marked the men's team's best season in 12 years. Texas-Pan American defeated NMSU, 100-86 last February 11th before a packed UTPA Fieldhouse. The game against Tulsa, an NCAA Tournament participant last season, will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Southwest. The Tulsa game will be the Broncs' first on live television since they appeared on ESPN when they lost to New Orleans, 48-44 in the championship game of the American South Conference Tournament at Jonesboro, Arkansas March 4, 1990.
