April 20, 2001 Men’s Tennis Falls to Louisiana-Monroe 4-1 at Southland Conference Tournament SAN
ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American men’s tennis
team fell to Louisiana-Monroe 4-1, this afternoon in the opening round
match-up at the Southland Conference Tournament held at the UTSA Campus
in San Antonio. Freshman
Tom Mangelschots registered the lone victory for the Broncs at the No. 6
singles by defeating Doug Breaux, 6-3, 6-4. The Broncs close their
season with a 13-15 overall record and 3-4 in their first season in the
Southland Conference. The
No. 1 seed Texas-Arlington (10-0) will take on Southeastern Louisiana at
9 a.m. on Saturday, while host Texas-San Antonio (9-1) will face vs.
Louisiana-Monroe in the other semi-final match-up starting at 1 p.m.
The winner of Saturday’s Championship final will earn an
automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Championship, for the first time in
