Immediate Release: March 11, 2001 UT Pan American Mens Tennis Drops Two Matches at HEB Classic Saturday CORPUS CHRISTI The University of Texas-Pan American Mens Tennis Team dropped two matches at the H.E.B. Classic on Saturday, falling to #65 Louisiana-Lafayette and #18 Oklahoma State. The Broncs played the 65th ranked Ragin Cajuns tough throughout the singles portion of the match. Enrique Bastante, playing at number one, won the first set before falling to Jakub Ilowski by a 3-6, 6-2, 10-7, count. Matt Gower won three games in the first set before falling 6-3, 6-0, at number two singles. UTPA struggled against the 18th ranked Cowboys, falling in all three singles matches that were completed and both doubles matches. Bastante fell to Matt Prentice at number one singles, 6-2, 6-1. Fran Krapelka defeated Gower 6-3, 6-1, at number two. Kareem Abdullah and Alex Cequea were both playing very strong against their opponents when the match was clinched, forcing their matches to be stopped. The Broncs will continue play on Sunday afternoon at the HEB Classic when they take on Wichita State. #65
