February 24, 2001 UT-Arlington Hands UT Pan American 5-2 Loss in Southland Conference Men's Tennis Action ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- The University of Texas-Arlington handed the University of Texas-Pan American it's second straight loss, by a 5-2 count, in Southland Conference men's tennis action Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center. UTPA was also defeated by Texas Wesleyan on Saturday by a 4-2 count. The Broncs struggled without number one player Matt Gower, who was unable to travel with the team. Enrique Bastante moved up to number one, but fell in both matches. The player who had the most success was Juan Saiz, playing at number three. Saiz won both matches in straight sets for UTPA, improving his record to 8-8 in singles. Pierre Cantu picked up a win at number six against Texas Wesleyan. Kareem Abduallah defeated Tom Zarzeczny of UT-Arlington at number four for the Broncs only other win. UTPA fell to 3-6 on the season with the losses. The Broncs will return to action on Sunday when they face the University of New Orleans in Arlington, Texas, at 10 a.m. Texas Wesleyan 4, UT Pan
