UT Pan American Falls to #66 Rice University in Men's Tennis Action Friday

HOUSTON -- 66th ranked Rice University swept all six singles matches as the Owls defeated the University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis team in action Friday afternoon at the Houston Metropolitan Racquet Club.

The Owls had little trouble in defeating the Broncs. The closest matches of the day came at number three and number five. UTPA's Brandon Meiners fell to Fabien Giraud, by a 6-2, 6-4, count at number three, while Kareem Abdullah was defeated by Rafael Reyes at number five, 6-1, 7-6. Doubles matches were not played.

The Broncs (1-4) return to action on Saturday at 12 noon when they face Texas Southern in Houston. UTPA will take on Southland Conference foe Lamar on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in Beaumont.
