BRONCS FALL AT LOUISIANA-MONROE

MONROE, LA-Louisiana-Monroe won the doubles point, then won four of six singles matches en route to a 5-2 Southland Conference victory against The University of Texas-Pan American men’s tennis team at ULM Saturday.

Freshman Filip Koziell (Calgary, AB/Bishop Carroll HS) won both of his matches for the Broncs. Koziell teamed with fellow freshman Jeremy Salvo (Coquitlam, BC/centennial Secondary) to defeat Bart Dabrowski and Stan Nevolovich at number two doubles, 8-4. Koziell defeated Mark Edney at number three singles, 6-4, 6-4.

Sophomore Tom Mangleschots (Limburg, Belgium/KA 2 HS) won his only match. Mangleschots defeated Newman at number two singles, 6-4, 6-3.

“Filip played well in both of his matches, and Tom played great in singles,” said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. “Otherwise, we didn’t play well enough to win. It was cold, but we can’t use that as an excuse. We’ll hope to do better tomorrow against Centenary.”

The Broncs fell to 3-4, 1-1 in SLC play with the defeat, while the Indians improved to 5-5 and 2-1in conference play. They will return to action when they visit Centenary for another conference match Sunday.
