Freshman 2000:  Had a four-match winning streak that expanded over a month...  Was 3-1 in #3 doubles paired up with Enrique Bastante.

At Eastwood High School: A standout at EHS, Cantu was ranked among the best players in the region... Had a 50-9 career singles record and a 39-9 career doubles record at EHS... Was named all-district his junior and senior years... Named Most Improved player on the team... Was also the team captain as a senior.

Personal: Born on July 10, 1982... Parents are Isela and Hector Cantu... Has two siblings, Hector and Rosie... Named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students... Also a National Honor Roll Student at Eastwood... Finished 1999 ranked 22nd in the Southwest Region by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) in the Boy’s 18’s Division...  Plans to major in Communications at UTPA.
