EDINBURG – The University of Texas-San Antonio handed the University of Texas-Pan American a tough 5-2 loss in men’s tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Orville Cox Tennis Courts.

The Roadrunners picked up the win by winning the key points in singles.  Two of the singles matches went three full sets and two others involved a tiebreaker.  UTSA took first blood when Briac Le Camus defeated Raul Cortina at number six, 6-0, 6-2.  Cesar Vargas tied things up at 1-1, defeating Todd Petty, 6-3, 6-3, at number four.  Andy Murillo defeated Jorge Cuesta 6-4, 7-6, to give the Roadrunners a one-point lead.  Justin Work slipped past Unai Uranga 6-4, 7-5, for a two-point UTSA lead.  Enrique Bastante cut the lead back to one with a 6-4, 6-7, 12-10, win in a modified three-set match.  But Pablo Sahagun wrapped up the win for UTSA with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4, win over Juan Saiz at number five.

The Roadrunners took all three doubles matches to wrap up the win.  The Roadrunners had defeated the Broncs 6-0 earlier this season in San Antonio, but the Broncs gave the Roadrunners a tougher match in Edinburg.

With the loss the Broncs fell to 7-5 on the season.  They will return to action on Saturday, April 15th when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the season finale at the Orville Cox Tennis Courts, beginning at 3 p.m.
