UTPA Men’s Tennis Improves to 6-1 with Win Over Alcorn State Friday
LORMAN, MISS. – The University of Texas-Pan American won its third straight match, and improved to 6-1 overall, with a 6-1 win over Alcorn State in men’s tennis action Friday afternoon.
Enrique Bastante led the way for the Broncs, winning his team-leading eighth match of the season, a 6-3, 6-4, decision over Ronald Theodore at number two singles. Jorge Cuesta picked up his sixth win of the season, defeating Misha Frolov at number one singles, 6-1, 7-5. Unai Uranga defeated Jedidah Dade at number three 6-0, 6-2, for his seventh win of the season. Cesar Vargas picked up his seventh win of the season at number five and Juan Saiz won his seventh at number six.
The Broncs swept all three doubles matches to improve to 17-8 in doubles this season and 15-3 during the spring in doubles.
UTPA will return to action on Saturday, March 25th, when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 5:30 p.m.
